We can’t deny the fact that we had an entertaining weekend all over the Europe. Some of the highlights were:
1. Anthony Martial’s Winner
Martial came off the bench in the 70th minute and scored the only goal of the match in the 81st minute. This is not the first time he has done that this season. And, he told Sky Sports, “I want to play. I don’t want to be on the bench. Rashford plays good too so when the manager gives us a chance we have to score.”
Jose Mourinho was quite satisfied with the performance of the team, and he said: “I like a lot of the performance independent of the result.
If the result is 0-0 or 1-1 my feelings with the players and the team would be the same because they gave absolutely everything, every ball was like the most important ball of their career, the concentration and focus was there and we cannot forget the quality of the team we were playing against.”
2. Higuain’s Brace clinch the victory over Milan for Juventus
Gonzalo Higuain scored twice for Juventus against Milan side which was playing without summer signing Leonardo Bonucci. Juventus are second on the table a point behind Napoli, and the win was important for Juventus to keep the title race intact. Higuain became only the second player in the football history to score 100 goals in two different leagues in Europe’s top 5 leagues.
3. Manchester City continue their dream start
City are still unbeaten in the Premier League already scoring 35 goals in 10 matches displaying the best attack in the Premier League. They have won 9 out of 10 matches played and are five points ahead of the city rivals Manchester United. The top contender for the Premier League side got their 8th straight victory of the season with 3-2 victory over West Brom.
4. Messi continues to score for Barcelona
Barcelona got the hard-fought victory over Athletic Bilbao, and Messi was again the savior for FC Barcelona scoring the early first goal and creating the other one in the last minutes. Messi has already scored the 12th goal in the La Liga from 10 matches and 16th overall. The win over Athletic Bilbao kept Barcelona 8 points ahead of Real Madrid and 4 points ahead of Valencia.
5. Bayern on top of the table
FC Bayern got victory over RB Leipzig 2-0, James Rodriguez scoring the first goal and Lewandowski scoring the second. They are 3 points ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
6. Real Madrid surprised by Girona
Girona scored twice in the second half after coming from 1 goal deficit in the first half. Isco scored the goal for Los Blancos, and Cristhian and Purto scored for Girona. Real Madrid are 8 points behind arch-rivals Barcelona and 4 points behind Valencia.
