Lionel Messi, arguably the best player of the generation, announced his retirement from the national team after his third loss in the final of the international competitions in 3 years. Argentina lost against Germany in the world cup 2014 final, and twice against Chile in Copa America 2015 and 2016 finals. Messi missed the penalty in the penalty shootout when everyone expected him to score the first penalty for the Argentina. It kept Messi in tears after the match, and he announced the retirement later in the day.
Lionel Messi made a comeback after the coach Edgardo Bauza and other teammates, and all his fans from over the world appealed him to make a comeback.
Messi told DirectTV sports:
“It was a decision I made in the heat of the moment, but I was embarrassed to say I wanted to come back. El Paton [Bauza] and my team-mates made everything easier for me to return.”
The Argentina forward confessed that he experiences different relation to the supporters after that incident. He has been carrying the weight of the nation for past 8-9 years, and World Cup 2018 might be his last chance to win something big for the country.
